The late Fitz Albert Neil is celebrated for dedicating his life to craft training and development, youth service and education. A Spanish and Craft teacher and carpenter by training, Fitz Neil has had the distinction of teaching in the primary, secondary, tertiary and vocational levels of education.
As founder and former President of Jamaica Craft Producers Association, co-founder of Wonderful World of Wicker and Wrought Iron (WOWW) and Things Jamaica, Fitz for the most part single-handedly boosted the weaving, fibre-furniture (wicker, rattan) and basketry craft in Jamaica and the Caribbean, most notably in Barbados.
As one of the early proponents of youth basketball in Jamaica, sourcing basketball coaches from over the world, and in recognition of his service to the Oxford Baptist Church Youth Fellowship, Fitz received Honorary Commission to the rank of Honorary Major in the Ranger Cadet Combined Corps.
